One dead after State Highway 1 crash

One person has died following a crash last night on State Highway 1/Rakaia Highway.

The two-vehicle crash was reported to police about 7:20pm on Thursday.

One person died at the scene, another person has received serious injuries and was taken to Christchurch Hospital.

The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene, and the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
